Background
Established in 1990, the Canadian International School (CIS) is one of the largest IB schools in Singapore. Their state-of-the-art campus at Lakeside houses approximately 3,000 students from over 70 nations in nursery (2 years of age) to Grade 12.
Every aspect of the CIS Lakeside campus was designed with learning in mind. It features open learning pods, spacious classrooms with touch-screen TVs to support learning, a huge double-storey library, a 500-seat theatre and community spaces designed to support the educational and developmental needs of all students. There is also a large array of dedicated arts spaces, STEAM makerspaces, and science labs. Sporting venues include a competition-sized FIFA pitch, gymnasium and Olympic-length swimming pool. These spaces will grow in January 2023 with the opening of the new Kindergarten wing, which will feature a 2,600 square-metre Outdoor Discovery Centre and a host of additional sporting facilities.
The Tanjong Katong (TK) and Lakeside campuses will be merging, and from August 2023 students from the TK campus will officially join the Lakeside campus and community.
What the school says
“The Canadian International School offers students an opportunity to develop through a diverse and challenging curriculum and a wide range of activities. Students are given ownership of the learning process and are encouraged to actively participate in their own education by setting personal goals and practising ongoing self-evaluation. Our inquiry-based programmes and activities encourage students to discover their interests and strengths. All of this is done in a safe, caring and supportive school environment that fosters positive attitudes and allows students to challenge themselves and be risk-takers, without the fear of being judged.”
Curriculum
CIS is one of the few international schools in Singapore to offer all three IB programmes – the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme. The CIS curriculum is benchmarked against national curriculums globally, allowing students to transition to another school when the time comes, or to graduate to universities anywhere in the world.

Fees for the 2022/2023 academic year range from SGD 33,950 for Pre-Kindergarten to SGD 44,200 for Grade 12. Location
CIS is conveniently located in the west, near public transport, and is a short drive from most expat communities in the centre of Singapore.
